Guilderhaven Inc. provides low-cost spay/neuter services to low-income individuals in our target counties. Guilderhaven also assists low-income pet owners by providing pet food and supplies. Our rehabilitation specialist is licensed to care for injured and orphaned wildlife provided for under her license and will assist in finding the appropriate rehabber if she is unable to care for a particular species. Guilderhaven is NOT a shelter or rescue group, but will assist with companion animal placement when necessary.

Success Stories

Explore our success stories and see firsthand how Guilderhaven’s programs have made a difference in the lives of animals and families. From rehabilitated wildlife returning to the wild to pets finding loving homes, our impact is tangible.

We’ve seen our fair share of unique wildlife rescues, but this one was truly a first.

A local cat rescue responded to a call about a stray cat and her kittens taking shelter in a garage. As they carefully gathered the little family, they noticed something... unusual. Nestled among the nursing kittens was a five-week-old baby squirrel—content, cozy, and completely unaware it wasn’t actually a cat.

While he wasn’t thrilled to be separated from his adoptive feline family, we were happy to welcome him in. At first, he didn’t seem to realize he was a squirrel—but with the help of a few other young squirrels in our care, he quickly caught on.

With time, love, and proper rehab, he grew strong and wild once again—and we’re thrilled to share that he’s now been successfully released back into nature where he belongs.
